Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 30, 2026
FlipLetters (“FlipLetters,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is operated by Terahertz Inc., a company registered in the United States. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use flipletters.com, app.flipletters.com, or any related services (collectively, the “Service”).
By accessing or using FlipLetters, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account (required to render and export videos), we collect your name, email address, and basic profile information if you sign in via Google, or your email address if you sign in with email and password.
Payment Information
If you purchase a single export or a Premium subscription, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your billing details and processes the charge. We never receive or store full payment card numbers.
Project Content
Text you type and images you upload to build a board video are processed to generate your project. Image-to-flap-grid conversion currently happens entirely in your browser — uploaded images are not sent to our servers for that step. If a project is rendered server-side (for example, for a cloud or Premium render), the relevant text and image data is transmitted to our rendering infrastructure solely to produce your video and may pass through automated content moderation first.
Render History
Metadata about videos you export (project name, template, output size, duration, and timestamp) is stored against your account. Using “erase my flips” in your History panel removes these entries from your view; the underlying records are retained on our servers for accounting, fraud-prevention, and legal purposes.
Usage Data
We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including features and templates used, export events, device and browser type, IP address, and referring URL.
Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your sign-in session and analyze usage patterns. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not function properly.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including rendering and delivering your videos
- Create and manage your account, and track free-export and subscription entitlements
- Process payments for single exports and Premium subscriptions
- Send transactional communications (for example, payment receipts)
- Analyze usage to improve templates, features, and reliability
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse of free-tier limits, or technical issues
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We also use a third-party messaging service (Discord) to receive automated internal notifications about product usage — for example, that an account signed up, which template was selected, or that an export was attempted — which may include an approximate location derived from IP address. These notifications are for our own internal product operations and are not made public or shared with any other party.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: third-party vendors who help us operate the Service (hosting, authentication, and database via Google Cloud Platform / Firebase; payment processing via Stripe; internal operational notifications via Discord), subject to confidentiality obligations.
- Legal Requirements: when required by law, subpoena, court order, or governmental regulation.
- Business Transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets by Terahertz Inc.
- With Your Consent: when you explicitly authorize us to share information.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your account and render-history data is stored using Google Cloud Platform (Firebase Authentication / Firestore) infrastructure located in the United States. We implement commercially reasonable security measures, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, and access controls.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Render-history and purchase records are kept for accounting and support purposes. If you delete your account or request deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (for example, resolving disputes or enforcing agreements).
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing activities
- Request data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time
To exercise these rights, contact us at support@flipletters.com.
7. California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
8. Children’s Privacy
FlipLetters is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.
9. Third-Party Links
FlipLetters contains links to third-party services, including our payment processor. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.
10. Analytics
We use Firebase Analytics (powered by Google Analytics) to help understand usage of the Service. This service may collect information about your use of the Service using cookies and similar technologies. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
